Repetition (Rep)

A single complete execution of an exercise movement, from the starting position, through the full range of motion, and back to the start.

Set

A consecutive group of repetitions performed without a rest period. E.g., performing 10 push-ups consecutively is one set.

Circuit

A structural method involving several different exercises performed sequentially with minimal rest between them to maintain cardiovascular demand.

Interval

A training format that alternates between distinct periods of elevated effort and specific periods of dedicated recovery or light activity.

Recovery

The phase during and after training when the body restores energy reserves, clears fatigue, and adapts to the physical stress applied.

Mobility

The active and controlled range of motion present at a given joint, requiring both muscular engagement and nervous system coordination.

Conditioning

The process of improving the body's energy systems, typically focusing on cardiovascular efficiency and sustainable muscular endurance over time.

Resistance

Any force applied against a muscle contraction—whether from bodyweight, bands, or weights—designed to stimulate structural strengthening.

Warm-Up

The active preparation phase before exercise, intended to increase core temperature and lubricate joints for safe physical output.

Cool-Down

A period of light activity following a workout designed to gently return the heart rate to baseline and promote preliminary recovery.
